Small Incision Vitrectomy Surgery
Micro-incision technology is used by Dr. Deupree
In recent years,
vitrectomy
surgery has seen major advancements in
technology, quality and safety. The advent of
the 25 gauge vitrectomy has allowed for more
efficient surgery and shorter, more comfortable
recovery times for patients.
At The Macula Center,
Dr. Dana M. Deupree,
has teamed with
Mease
Hospital to deliver the safest, most efficient
vitreo-retinal surgery available.
The director
of the Ambulatory Surgery Center, Jerome Ladous,
makes sure that Dr. Deupree has state-of-the-art
surgical instrumentation at his fingertips.
The Bausch & Lomb MicroFlow Plus®
microsurgical system has set the standard for
quality small-incision vitrectomy surgery.
This state-of-the-art equipment has allowed Dr.
Deupree to deliver the highest quality, most
technologically advanced
retina surgery to every
patient.

Dr. Deupree was
one of the first surgeons in the country
to test the 25 gauge vitrector |
The 25 gauge vitrector can be used through a tiny,
"sutureless" incision in the sclera (the white of
the eye). Because of the way the incision is
constructed, it seals naturally from the eye's
internal
pressure,
thus eliminating the need for sutures. This
technique has been pioneered by Dr. Deupree and as a
result, he was one of the first sutureless surgeons
in the country to test the 25 gauge system.
"Our goal is to take a minimalist approach to
surgery. That translates to less time in the
operating room, and it reduces the recovery,
swelling and discomfort," said Dr. Deupree.
With his "nothing but the best" philosophy, Dr.
Deupree continues to develop an efficient, ultra-modern retina center with
advanced technology and research capacity in a
caring environment. |
